2022 Korean National Swimming Team & MIS Swimming Club Collaberation Night

MIS Swimming Club had a great opportunity to assist the Korean National Swimming team while they were training in Australia.

They have come to Australia to train for the 2022 World Championships and the Asian Games for their 4 x 200m Freestyle events along with their individual events. Amongst the team, there is a 200m Freestyle Gold medalist for the 2021 Shortcourse Championship, Sunwoo Hwang.

MIS Swimming Update Regarding Reopening

Hi everyone,

This is just a quick update regarding the lift of the restriction and how it affects MIS Swimming.

Currently, it seems private swimming pools are opening up with the restriction of 20 people using the facilities at any time. Some swimming pools in other councils have allowed individuals to book their sessions to use the swimming pool with 45 minutes per session. However, the swimming pools that MIS Swimming uses are still under shutdown and they are waiting for their councils to give them a sign to open up again.

What this means for MIS Swimming is that we still have to wait for the shutdown to ease more so that the swimming pools open up for the public in order for us to go back to our usual lessons. We are still consistently contacting the relevant facilities for any updates and we will let you know when we have any updates.

I hope everyone stays safe and hope to see you soon.

MIS 2019 Year End Pool Party

Thank you for joining MIS Swimming’s another Year End Pool Party.

To celebrate another great year for MIS Swimming, we have decided to hold another Pool Party just like last year. I’m very glad to see that the Year End Pool Party is becoming our tradition to thank everyone.

The weather was perfect for the Pool Party, however, it might have been a little bit too hot for the parents.

Just like last year, there were plenty of food to go around for everyone and Yosep also gave out little party bags for every student.

We also can’t leave out our MIS Encouragement Meet for our swimmers. This time, they also received a small prize along with their ribbons.

2019 Korea Bootcamp – Swim, Learn, Play and Experiences

LOCATION and SWIM BOOTCAMP

Our squad team once again had the privilege to join our sister swim school (Seongnam Aquatic Club) in South Korea for a 3 1/2 weeks bootcamp. Since it is summer in Korea, it was a great opportunity to escape the winter here in Melbourne during the school term 2 break.

The training program is headed by our Head Coach Yosep Yang.

We stayed at a new sports centre in Seongnam city specially built for athletes.

We trained in an indoor 50M Pool and the swimming complex is next to a newly refurbished soccer and track and field stadium for our dryland exercise.

Apart from swimming, the swimmers learn the local culture, experience the local food and ways of life where we traveled by public transport like the car, bus, speed train and taxis.

Bongeunsa is a Buddhist temple located in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu in Seoul, South Korea

During the weekend, we experienced one of Korean’s favourite sports, the baseball.

There were lots of Virtual Reality Arcade Game Centre around Korea and we gave the swimmers an opportunity to visit one  during our break.

18th FINA World Championship in Gwangju

One of the highlights of the trip was the once in a lifetime experience to visit the 18th FINA World Championship in Gwangju. We were at the opening night and witness Mack Horton, Ariarne Titmus, and all the Aussie Swimmers in the Relay program. It was a spectacular experience to be able to sing our national anthem when the Australian own Gold in Womens 4 x 100M Freestyle event.

Our swimmers got to meet Park Tae-Hwan in an autograph session as well.

BUILDING PARTNERSHIP

Our MIS Swimming Club committee met with the President and Vice-President of the Gyeonggi-Do Swimming Federation to discuss and share learnings and strengthen our partnership moving forward.
